Description

The FlamingStarNebula, 1500 light‐years away and 5 light‐years across, is an emission/reflection nebula in the constellation Auriga, surrounding the bluish star AE Aurigae, which shines at magnitude +6.0. It used to be a star formation region, but was ionized by the newly formed high mass stars including AE Aurigae, which trigger red H‐ alpha radiation of the nebula. The blue color is the re􏰃ection of the central star by the nebula.
