Important! This is NOT an attempt to show that some of you are better at making astro photos than others. I personally know how hard this is, and I highly appreciate every single pixel that I use in these images. If it wasn't for your telescope work, Crowd Images wouldn't be possible. The Crowd Image technique is based on simple statistics. When you average a lot of astro photos you get an image which is a lot closer to the original. Every little error, like guiding errors, colorballance, spikes, defocus etc. is averaged, and each image only participate to the final image with a small fraction. Also an image which is too red is compensated by another which is too green and so forth.

The image above was made by combining (with a simple average) 83 different images (from 56 participants) in PixInsight. The separate images vary quite a lot, as you can see on the video. They were all aligned to one image, but there is still small errors in the alignment.

This example is to give a simple idea about the technique and the sub images used. The image above is a crop from an early test, and a full version will follow later.
