Description

The very rough product of tonight's escapades in imaging (and I haven't even gotten to the prime shots off the OTA yet!)

Taken with a stock Sony A6000, this widefield image of the area from the Flame Nebula to the Great Nebula in Orion encompasses ~30 minutes of imaging.

Technical details:

Sony A6000 with Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens at f5.6, ~300mm equivalent

ISO 320

20 images x 105 seconds (1 minute, 45 seconds)

No darks, flats, or biases.

Stacked and registered in PixInsight

Processed in Photoshop and Lightroom.

Overall, not too shabby. I think the limit of what I can reasonably do on this mount is near 2-3 minutes (which won't be for long! Autoguiding is on the way!). I'm suprised at how much H-a the stock Sony picked up, considering it's only 30 minutes of integration time or so. There's great detail in the Flame Nebula and you can see a very clear Horsehead. There is also a ton of nebulosity in M42/43/NGC 1973/5/7.

You can see the slight tracking errors, which I'm not too worried about since this was only a short imaging session, and AUTOGUIDING!!! is on the way!.

Let me know what you all think!
