Description

We've all heard of the famous irregular galaxy, NGC 1427A, but what does the true NGC 1427 look like?Well, here it is! It isn't much to look at, as it is an elliptical galaxy, but there are some interesting features. The galaxy is covered with small dots that look like stars. These are globular clusters of stars that are frequently seen in elliptical galaxies. Also, at the bottom right of the galaxy's core is a faint and fairly large spiral galaxy. You may have to look at it in full size to see it. It is better emphasized on NGC 1427's wiki image.

This data was obtained through the Hubble Legacy Archive.
