Description

Messier 81 or M81 (also designated NGC 3031) is a Spiral Galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major It has an apparent visual magnitude of 6.9 and M81 lies at an estimated distance of 12 million light years. It’s commonly known as the Bode´s Galaxy.

Messier 82 or M82 (also designated NGC3034) is a starburst galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. It has an apparent visual magnitude of 8.4 M82 lies at an estimated distance of 12 million light years. As one of the more famous objects in the night sky it is commonly known as the Cigar Galaxy.
