Description

Messier 97 (Owl Nebula, NGC3587) is a planetary nebula and Messier 108 (NGC3556) is an almost edge-on viewed barred spiral galaxy in Ursa Major. Though appearing within 50 arc-minutes of each other in the night sky, M97 and M108 are not associated. M97 is located 2,600 light years away where M108 is located over 45 million light years away.



Taken over 3 nights of December 26/29/30, 2013 from the San Francisco Bay Area.
