Description

Spanning a full 180º degrees, from horizon to horizon, the Milky Way extends its most beautiful regions in the night sky. From left to right several constellations can be seen, amongst Scutum, Aquila, Ophiucus, Sagittarius, Scorpius, Corona Australis, Lupus, Crux and part of Centaurus and Carina (latin names). The Milky Way Center (brightest core in the center of the image) is almost directly overhead during Winter, but only in the Southern Hemisphere. A sattelite trail completes the composition, in a fortune coincidence during the aquisition of the data. A 2nd trail was also visible in the original frames, but it has been "deleted" during the panorama stitching process.

The image was only made possible by the location, a moderately to dark skies in the southern hemisphere, where this section of the Milky Way can be seen. The image was taken from a 22º Latitude South Location, and if you've never been "Down Under", it is worth simply because of the Milky Way Stucture and the beauty of our skies.

Image was pre-processed using LR, stitched as a 12-shot Panorama in Photoshop Photomerge Tool, and was processed using its Curves, Levels, HPF and Saturation adjustments. Final touching in LR, along with exporting.

Constructive criticism, comments and suggestions are more than welcome in the comments section.

Taken from Rural Skies (Bortle 3-4), on a partially clear night, from Cristina, MG, Brazil (22ºS latitude). Thanks for looking.
