Description

Ngc 2146 in Camelopardalis. This one is way north at Dec 78.21. Classified as a barred spiral - it was distorted by a gravitational encounter a little less than a billion years ago. It is also considered a Starburst galaxy. 70 mly distant, 80,000 ly across. Lots of Ha present in the core area.

My jpgs were not showing correctly in chrome, so I had to redo with "save for web device" in PS.
