Description

Not especially stretched... just the proper color calibration on the ATIK 490 sensor. Look closely around that bright yellow star and the mouth of the Spider to see some floating globs acting as reflection nebulae.

This image was obtained tonight while testing out a new guider. I found that despite guiding, the image stack showed a drift of about 1.7 arcsec / minute in RA (1 pixel). Must be differential flexure, since the autoguider reports a lock within half that amount. I need to build a predictive autoguider that will anticipate a steady growth in flexure between the guide camera and the imaging system.
