Description

This image is sort of an accident as I never intended to process it due to mis-matched flats. It started out as a way to practice the techniques I learned from Scott Rosen's wonderful tutorial and in order to make use of it I had to fix the flats issue. I spent half the day working with DBE in PixInsight to fix it and finally got something I could work with. The image was obtained during a trip to my club's dark sky site in rural Alabama which although barely darker than my own backyard, gave me the opportunity to hang out with one of my fellow astrophotographers. It was also the first time out using the Canon 6D with the Epsilon 130. I failed to note how many subs I took and I no longer have the light frames, but I now the data was obtained in September of 2015, the ambient temp was around 12C and I used ISO1600. Nearly all of the processing was done in Photoshop CS2 using the the LLRGB technique described by Scott Rosen's tutorial.
