Description

NGC 1748 is a compact star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Measures about 50 light years and contains a blue giant star with about 45 times the mass of the Sun, which blows away the surroundings and creates the star "cradle". In millions of years, this nebula may no longer exist as the cloud would have been all eaten away and the stars would have gone supernova and therefore no more stuff to ionize or whatever.
