Description

And the adventure begins!

This was first light for my new QSI 683wsg-8 loaded with Astrodon LRGB and narrowband filters. When I ordered it a couple of weeks ago, I decided that, based on the time of year, my first object would be a bi-color attempt on one of my all time favorites, the Dumbbell nebula. I had hoped to get a couple of hour of both Ha and OIII, but due to one issue after another, I didn't get everything working together until almost 1:30 am, which only gave me about an hour and a half before it was 20 deg past meridian. (Since I don't have an auto rotator for the camera, didn't want to mess with a flip) As a result, I ended up with 30 min each of Ha and OIII.

Since this was first light for the new setup, I decided to process what I had and post it. The forecast is for good skies tonight (although, it looks a bit iffy right now) so I'm hoping to have another run at it.

Once again, I would like to give a shout out to Kayron Mercieca and his Light Vortex tutorials, which I used to guide me through narrow band processing.

As LRGB and narrow band are new to me, please feel free to provide any comments/suggestions.

Thanks, and enjoy

Mike
