Description

That's a fairly old image that I almost didn't process. My bad framing is part of the reason for it, as I wanted to frame to better show the dust cloud. Nonetheless, the result was not my best, but I really liked to be able to see the dust. This image was much inspired by Jonah Scott's fantastic work, that I recommend checking out (@ http://www.astrobin.com/151432/C/).

My processing skills are far from memorable, and light pollution from the nearby town of Itajubá made a strong gradient, especially on the lower right of the frame. The dense starfield also makes the dust more difficult to pull out. Finally, 50min is just to short to yeld sufficient SNR to better reveal this really faint clouds. A target that I look forward to trying again next Fall (March-June).

Constructive criticism, comments and suggestions are more than welcome in the comments section. Thank's for taking your time to look at this image.

Taken from Rural Skies (Bortle 3-4; NELM ~6.2), from Cristina, MG, Brazil (22ºS latitude).

Date and Time: June 5th, 2016, at 22:30 (yet to be confirmed)

Camera: Unmodded Canon T4i/650D, at ISO 800

Lens: Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8, set at 85mm, stopped down to f/3.5

Exposure Detail: 10x300s or 10x5min, total 50 minutes

*Revision -B- is overprocessed to my taste, with more star shrinking and curves to better show the dust. There just isn't enough SNR, but is kind of more visible*
