Description

I'm going through some previous data since my knowledge has grown some in Pixinsight. This was processed in RGB minus L with Ha applied to 20% of red channel. I used Ha in my reference image for stacking and really liked the results. My results were getting blown out with to much color and star bloat when Luminance subs were applied; thus the script in PI was used to add Ha to rgb.

The total subs were Ha 13 subs 1800 seconds each, Red channel 16 subs 600 seconds each, green and blue same exposure time of 600 seconds with 16 subs each.

The updated version is from the LRGB full set minus no Ha. I may try to process an Ha blend in a few days now that I have the LRGB set finally processed. I seem to notice some green cast in image possibly from stretching it maybe to much; although I have done two DBE and BN along with color calibration so I'm a bit puzzled. I also noticed when I had it in my PI histrogram window that the green channel appeared to be much more prominent than the red and blue channels.

Here is another update with application of a full SCNR at 1.0 green removal.

I reduced the black point to bring out the structure detail from the overall capture. Next up is try with an Ha blend of the data set.

Okay what is this round #5!! I went back to the drawing board and literally spent 6 to 8 hours processing this data and watching Warren Keller's videos as well to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything in post processing. All was done in Pixinsight only and the results to me IMO are really amazing and this is the best image I have ever done or processed using PI. The blend was 28 % Ha to red and 33% red to Ha in the script I also reduced saturation to 25 %.

Jerry thanks for your input.!! I did move the black point over which really revealed the nebulosity so much better. I also on this version employed LHE which I forgot to use and it really brought out the inner structure the Veil Nebula to a degree I don't think I have ever seen before with normal land based telescopes.
