Description

Absolutely lovely area. I can see at least seven places where interstellar dust interacts with stars in a various vays, plus quite a few HH objects!

IC 2087 looks absolutely stunning - very unusually looking reflection nebula. You can clearly see how scattering reddens the light!

In the heart of IC 2087 you can see a red dot - looks like it is the star which light forms the nebula - TTau candidate 2MASS J04395574+2545020.

Smal red dot above IC 2087 is a HH395 and it really looks like it moved quite a bit away from the star since it was catalogued.

The biggest HH object in the image is visible below and to the right of the bright blue star - it's HH 704.

I am sure this is just a small fraction of interesting objects in this image.

Nothing fancy was done while processing this image. I just like this low contrast and low saturation natural look (IMHO) of the image. Seems like the area is surrounded by a thin layer of dust, so there is no real backgroung here.

PS. It is best viewed in a dark room!

PPS. LOL, there is actually a planetary nebula in this image! It is very hard to find. It's located on the bottom of the very far left part of the image. It is very small, almost like a star, a just a bit pinkish and not as bright as the star would be on its place. Good luck finding it!
