Description

Center-framed on the star 19-AUR in the Auriga constellation, this stacked, calibrated, 3-hour guided astrophoto captures the Flaming Star Nebula (IC-405, bottom-right) and the Tadpole Nebula (IC-410, top-left). Found in the Perseus Arm of our Milky Way and spanning 5-light years across, at 1500 light-years from Earth, emission nebula IC-405 is streaming with gaseous lanes of dust that are collectively illuminated by surrounding stars, but mostly by the blue hypergiant AE-Auriga that’s right behind the nebula at 1700 light-years from us. This star is so scorchingly bright, that it’s emissions of blue wavelength hold the energy to compound and pulse electrons out of the hydrogen-rich nebula. These electrons are then sucked back by the protons and in a quantum reaction that occurs within that infinite subatomic fabric, red-light is created. Further out in in the Cygnus Arm of our Milky Way, at about 15,000 light-years from Earth is IC-410, a faint emission nebula and stellar nursery whose stars have been connecting light into the aether for about 4 million years now. In cosmic time, if there is such a thing, IC-410 is a relatively young nursery, but its furiously bright-stars once again galvanise the stardust into incandescence, portraying ridges of ionized gas sculpted by radiating interstellar winds that emanate from the core. Taken together, these two very distant nebulae, coalesce to form a singular paintings brushed with an outline that I’m calling The ‘Flaming Tadpole’. Taken under not so dark skies (neighbouring business has multiple floodlights pointed in my direction 😠) and under a waxing Crescent Moon🌙. Lights calibrated with darks, bias and flats. PM me for further info 🌠📸🔭🚀🌌👍🍻😊.
