Description

Just below M8 (Lagoon Nebula) in the constellation of Sagittarius about 4,000 light years distant, lies this complex emission/reflection region dominated by IC 4685. The bright, bulbous emission regions toward the bottom right of the image are IC 1274 and IC 1275, and between those is the dark cloud (B91).

Image consists of: 22 x 300s Ha, 24 x 300s Oiii, and 27 x 300s Sii; or just over 6 hrs of data. I believe that twice that amount is required to properly bring out the convolutions in the clouds of IC1274 and IC 1275, and the central core. So I will return with a revision at some point in the future.

Camera used was the ASI1600MM-C running at sensor temp of -25C. Telescope was a MN190 Mak-Newt, on a Celstron CGX mount.

There are two small artifiacts at the lower centre edge of the image, that maybe drops of condensation that fell on the corrector suface. A light shield was used, along with heater straps to warm te corrector but it was col and humid on one of the nights so i expect the artifact is a result of that.
