Description

M28 is a globular cluster located 16,000 light years away in the constellation of Sagittarius at a declination of -25 degrees.  It is a magnitude 7 cluster which spans 11 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 50 light years.

This is one of my favorite star clusters because of the dense Milky Way star background, the resolved stars in the star cluster, the brilliant blue of the cluster offset by the reddish stars in the background, and the unique star-like shape of the cluster.
