Description

This is my first Narrow Band image.

I select an area in NGC7000.

I didn't plan to publish this test, but I think the result is not to bad.

I am quite impressed by the contrast of NB imaging.

My sub exposures are dominated by Read Noise (25%) and Dark Noise (50%). Next time, I will need to take longer subexposure (or go for lower read noise - higher gain) and cool the sensor down to -20°C or even less.

The only small bad point of this camera for NB imaging is the Dark Signal which need deep cooling to remove. I have measured 0.088 e-/s at -15°C and it seems that the dark signal is only cut by half when the temperature is decreased by 10°C.

Sorry this image was taken without adjusting the collimation of my APO and is very poor.

The processing was done in PI as follow :

- Flat Field Dark Substraction

- Flat Field Integration

- Images Calibration (Dark Substraction and FF correction)

- Cosmetic Correction

- Image Registration

- Image Integration

- Noise Reduction (Demure)

- Nonlinear Image Creation

- HDR (High Dynamic Range) Compression

Final image adjustments performed in Iphoto on Imac (levels adjustements)
