Description

The Veil Nebula, a 5,000-10,000 year old Supernova remnant, is too large for all but the widest fields of view. Indeed, this small segment of the structure required two panels with a large format camera. Imagining the entire 3 degree structure as a naked eye object is always fun.

This is a bi-color image of Ha and OIII. One thing I like about the Veil is that it is equally strong in OIII and Ha, the OIII might be a bit stronger. And as a narrow-band bi-color image it still comes out looking something like it might in wide-band color.

The left side is comprised of 18 OIII and 16 Hawhile the right side is 13 OIII and 16 Ha. All 20 minute subs. The differences were not planned but due to the luck of decent tracking and weather.
