Description

This beautiful open star cluster is located almost 10,000 light years away in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia. Besides an owl, other interpretations of the star outline include E.T., a dragonfly, and a fighter jet with the two bright stars marking the afterburners. Two interesting stars of the cluster are the brightest 5th magnitude star (which is not actually a member of the cluster) and, below it in the image, the orange supergiant star. The cluster is comprised of over 150 stars.
