Description

NGC877 (NGC876,NGCi71, and NGC870) are seen toward the Constellation Aries, more than 150 Million Light-Years distant. Quite a few galaxies may be seen in this field of view. NGC877, the larger galaxy is separated from NGC876 by only 150 to 200 thousand light-years and are tidally interacting as evidenced by the tidal streams between the two. Also in the field of view are NGC871 and NGC870 to the right of the aforementioned galaxies. The dim pinwheel shaped galaxy above and between these two sets of galaxies is PGC8739, along with several other PGC Catalog galaxies in the field of view.
