Description

While playing around with my DSLRs (chasing meteors) I decided to throw the scope on Alnitak for a quick test of the new camera and UV/IR cut filter setup on a bright star with some of the flame nebula around. I didn't expect the horse head to be in frame so I laughed pretty hard when I did this quick processing of the data and noticed it was there but with no head!! Pretty excited about the potential of the new setup so I'll definitely be back in this neighborhood for a more serious attempt... maybe even a first mosaic attempt.

Any thoughts on the degree of reflection around Alnitak... Acceptable or indicating a problem with my set-up? (the lightness around the edges of the frame are a result of my flats over-correcting I think)
