Description

A pair of pretty and historic objects. SH2-101, or the Tulip Nebula, is central in this image, while the Blue bowshock from Cygnus X-1 is in the upper right.

Cygnus X-1 was the first generally accepted Black Hole and his part of a binary system with the Blue Giant star that can be seen in the center of the blue shock front.

My target was the Tulip and I want' aware of Cygnus X-1 being in the frame till I saw the shock front appear as I was tone-mapping the data. What a nice surprise!

This is a tone-mapped SHO blend of 13 Ha, 27 OIII, and 18SII twenty minute subs.
