Description

These are two images of NGC-6888 taken on two consecutive nights with identical configuration (Astrodon O-iii 3nm filter, 10 minute exposure) at the same time of the evening, and stretched identically. The higher contrast image was taken on a truly clear night. The lower contrast image was taken on a night where smoke from forest fires in California, Eastern Washington and Siberia (!) was enough to cause a noticeable haze up to 15% above the horizon but apparently daylight clear sky overhead, where NGC-6888 was positioned at the time of the exposures. Posting mostly as a piece of observational data about how even moderate amounts of smoke in the atmosphere greatly amplify light pollution.
