Description

“Traversing the Shadow” Tenerife, Spain.

The photo montage is composed of 3 images taken at 03:15, 03:35, 03:55 UT on 28st October 2004 at the Mirador del Tobonal Negro within the El Teide caldera on Tenerife. Each image of the moon is a blend of 2 exposures to compress the dynamic range of the image and maintain as much detail as possible in the brightest parts of the image. The exception is the 03:55 image which is composed of 5 exposures to compress the larger dynamic range in the fully lit portion of the moon outside Earth's shadow.

The montage was assembled by aligning on peripheral field stars (cropped out)

Technical Details:

Media: 6.4 Mega pixel RAW image files

Shutter speeds: 1/6 and 0.7 seconds @ ISO 800
