Description

First light of my SkyWatcher 300mm f/4 telescope. The field still has more curvative than I want (to be corrected), but in general astrograph is ready for a big target!

About NGC 6940

NGC 6940 is an open cluster in the constellation Vulpecula. The cluster is nearly a billion years old and it is located 2,500 light years away, having a hundred members.

The small story

After assembling and colimating new telescope I've been waiting for sky clearing busy with first target choosing. Because Moon was high, the target should be open or globular cluster - which we have a lot during this time of year.

And accidentally I saw lovely star photo in recent Sky&Telescope magazine (was laying nearby). With the caption "Ephemeral Cluster" and annotation stated that "NGC6940 is one of the most beautiful clusters in the sky", I definetly had to test it! So here it is!
