Description

NGC 918 is a spiral galaxy around 61 million light years distant in the constellation of Aries. It has an apparent diameter of approximately 3.5 x 2.0 arcminutes and, as such, is a small target for our TEC 140 and QSI 690 combination. However, there is a large area of galactic cirrus (or integrated flux nebula) surrounding the object.

Data for this image were gathered between 26 November and 7 December 2018 from a remote imaging rig in Spain that is owned and operated by Barry Wilson and me.

Capture details are as follows:

Telescope: TEC140

Camera: QSI 690

Filters: Astrodon LRGB

Mount: 10 Micron GM2000HPS

Lum: 47 x 600s

Red: 26 x 600s

Green: 26 x 600s

Blue: 26 x 600s

A total of 20 hours and 50 minutes.

Data Capture: Steve Milne & Barry Wilson
