Description

The RGB were taken on the AG12+ASI1600MM at .70 asec/pix, the L on TV127is+ASI183MM at .75 asec/pix. Using L from the TV NP127is refractor effectively eliminates the spikes from the AG12.

Messier 35 or M35, also known as NGC 2168, is an open cluster of stars in the northern constellation of Gemini. It was discovered by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux around 1745 and independently discovered by John Bevis before 1750. The cluster is scattered over an area of the sky almost the size of the full moon and is located 3,870 light-years (1,186 parsecs) from Earth. The age of M35 is 175 Million years, very young as indicated by the large population of blue colored stars.

The compact open cluster NGC 2158 lies directly southwest of M35, but lies 11,000+ light-years from Earth. Its age is about 2 billion years, thus all the stars are in the yellow-orange range.
