Description

This is my first test of some new Astrodon narrow band filters. The Ha and SII data looked great but the OIII data was pretty boring other than proving problematic halos I was seeing were caused by my old ZWO OIII filter and not something in my optical train.

Given that the OIII data didn’t reveal any significant structure beyond stars, I decided to try Ha, SII, SII (HSS). I am very happy with the result but miss the “smoke” part of the flaming star. Next time I will add some RGB data and return the smoke.

This image also validates my decision to purchase a set of Astrodon filters for use with my ASI 1600. I can tell these are going to be easy to work with and I look forward to future projects.
