I finally had a clear morning, with reasonable (poor to fair) seeing, which allowed me to capture my first image of Jupiter for 2019. Like the others who have managed to get images this year, my image shows the the Jovian giant has taken a new face since going around the Sun. The well documented change in colour of the EZ to a tan hue is in evidence. I managed, with difficult to get an image of Io and its shadow. The seeing was too poor for any of its surface markings to be in evidence. Despite the seeing challenges I am pleased to be off the mark, so to speak, for this year. It looks like it will be an interesting one, hopefully graced with clear skies and importantly some nights of excellent seeing.
