Description

Mars on the last day of September. Animation of four nine minute WinJUPOS composites taken at dusk one hour after sunset (occurring at 6:06 pm Canberra time). Total elapsed time of 17 minutes, North on top in this view.

The disk has visibly shrank since 20 Sep imaging session. I was continuously recording since 5:30 pm but the seeing only became good enough shortly before 7. Despite 16 arc second diameter fair amount of detail can be discerned with Mountains of Mitchel (Novus Mons) visible to the right of receding SPC.

Out of all dark albedo features, Huygens crater is most prominent (east of Syrtis Major) followed by Sinus Sabaeus (approaching central meridian). There is a hint of a dark area inside an otherwise pale bright Hellas basin while Sinus Meridiani rotates slowly into view.
