Description

This is the first deepsky photo taken from my new backyard!

Overall pretty happy with the new location, I can see a larger part of the sky and there’s less light pollution. My photographic SQM went from 17.5 to an average of 19.0 mag/arcsec2. From my city apartment, I was mostly limited to shooting emission nebulae using narrowband filters. This darker backyard opens up a lot of new imaging possibilities, as I should also get an acceptable view of many broadband targets.

I chose the large spiral galaxy M101 as the first target for the new location. M101 has a special meaning to me because in 2016, it was the first galaxy I ever photographed through a telescope.
