Messier 99

Taken with very poor skies and slight gusts of wind which messed up the guiding quite a bit.

Messier 99 is approximately 49,000,000 light years away and is a grand design spiral galaxy in the constellation of Coma Berenices

Discovered in 1781 by Pierre Méchain, M99 Charles Messier included it in the Messier Catalogue of comet-like objects. M99 was one of the first galaxies in which a spiral pattern was seen and identified by Lord Rosse in 1846.
