Description

Shot in my backyard during a 3% Waxing moon, still dealing with light pollution from neighbors all around me. Only had a couple hours of clear sky so I went for it. Stars are more round this time, had to adjust the sidereal rate on my motor box slightly.

Using the Takumar 200mm f4 wide open w/APS-C crop (f6.48, 324mm effective focal length) iso 800.
24 light frames, 45 sec. each
No darks, biases, or flats yet. Work in progress, will try adding to it once the weather clears up.

B

54 total frames in this revision, 40m exposure time. 24 @iso800 and another 30 @iso1600, still using 45-second exposures. 5 darks and 5 bias frames used.

C

Adobe Lightroom used for noise reduction, in Photoshop I stretched w/Curves.

D

2 Hours and 15 mins integration time. 173 light frames, 10 dark/bias and 2 flats. Deconvolution/Unsharp mask, TGVDenoise in PixInsight, curves adjustments and gradient removal in Photoshop.

E

A little over 3 hours of exposure time. Usable subs: 4 x 30" 176 x 45" 44 x 60" 6 x 120" Unfortunately, galaxies push the limits of what my mount is capable of...2 minute subs are not easy to achieve.

F

More natural attempt, just the iso400 frames stacked this time.
