Description

The Whirlpool Galaxy. Finally finished a Deep Sky image… for now at least. Messier 51 and NGC 5195 are interacting galaxies about 28 Million Light-years away. Supposedly, the interaction between these two galaxies is what gave M51 it’s spiral arms. I collect this data over the span of 2 months. It comprises of 16.8 hours total. 13.5 of which is Hydrogen Alpha narrowband data. The pink you see here is where most of the Hydrogen Alpha data was. I’ll most likely re-process this another day since this is my first HaLRGB image I’ve ever done and I’m not sure as to the best way to process this kind of dataset. If anyone has experience with the ES127mm (older model pre-FCD100) and blue star halos, I'd like to know if this is possible to fix somehow. The blue filter data is so bad, the stars are about 3 times the diameter as Red and Green and about 1.5X the diameter of Luminance stars.
