Description

10 days after receiving my new Solar Scout, the clouds finally rolled out to allow me to give the telescope a spin. I photographed the sun using a Canon 60D in video mode, but the resolution simply wasn't adequate to capture the little bit of detail that was visible. This image was a stack of 29 normal images acquired in burst mode, and simply isn't good enough. On my next imaging session I'd want to use a cooled monochrome CMOS camera.

The image more or less represents what I could see visually in the telescope - the surface detail was visible, but very subtle, possibly due to very poor sky conditions. I still need to find the optimal tuning setting as well, which probably also played a role in the lack of contrast in this image.
