Description

This object, UGC 10822, is a dim dwarf satellite galaxy of the Milky Way located 270,000 light years away in the constellation of Draco. It is seen as a dim horizontal oval region of stars located at the center of the image and spanning about half of the image width. The galaxy's apparent size is 36 arc-minutes which corresponds to an actual diameter of 2800 light years.

A foreground double star is optically aligned with the center of the dwarf galaxy. Several far more distant galaxies are visible in the background.
