Description

Posted following the great suggestion by Van McComas under the post "A Celebration of Mankind in Space" to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission...

This is the second in a series of images taken at the NASA JSC Rocket Park during a conjunction of the Moon and Saturn on October 23, 2017. I scoped out the setting and lines of sight around dusk when only the waxing crescent moon was visible, then returned after dark to capture the Moon, Saturn, and these great rockets.

This second image captures the waxing crescent moon at dusk above the Mercury-Redstone launch vehicle used to launch the Mercury astronauts into space and Little Joe II test vehicle used to prove out the Apollo launch escape system.
