Description

M7 is a very bright open cluster in Scorpius. Very close to the "Sting" formed by the bright stars Shaula and Lesath. Visible on the left of the photo.

The cluster was discovered by Ptolomy and is visible to the naked eye even from suburban locations. With binoculars it's a wonderful sight even from inside a city.

The cluster is just in the middle of the Milky Way and in photos it can be seen contrasting with the rich amount of stars in the background.

This wide field includes several other deep sky objects.
