Description

The photo is the giant crater Ptolemaeus with their respectable 158 km in diameter and its endless ghost craters that are scattered all over your floor and despite being flooded by lava are easily visible in this photo due to the low angle of illumination.

But what are we dealing with here is something more subtle and although I have not found information which seems accurate alignment of craters that exist alongside Muller formed by Muller, Muller F and still others, sets what is known by the Catena craters.

Catena, catenae (Chain of Craters)

Name adopted by U.A.I. to designate a chain of craters on the surface of the moon or a planet. They are derived from material rebound and ejects the impact that formed the crater area. The cadeida crater Davy (pictured lower inset) is one of the most spectacular crater chains on the Moon, spans about 50 kilometers from the edge of the old crater Davy Y.

Other chains of craters are: Catena Abulfeda; Catena Humboldt; Catena Krafft; Catena Littrow; Catena Sylvester; Catena Taruntius; Catena Timocharis.

And I suspect that is also the case of Muller, in this case we would have a Catena Muller, but for now are simple speculations that I reserve the right of the doubt.
