Description

The Orion Nebula (also known as Messier 42, M42, or NGC1976) is a diffuse nebula situated south of Orion's Belt in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae, and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky. Older texts frequently refer to the Orion Nebula as the Great Nebula in Orion or the Great Orion Nebula. J.E. Bode referred to it as "the most remarkable nebula in the heavens...". This photo was taken on December 26, 2013 and included 21 exposures at 60 seconds each (21 minutes total before the clouds rolled in) using a Canon T4i and EF400mm f/5.6L USM lens at ISO 800. The image was tracked using a ZEQ25GT mount from iOptron. Images were then stacked in DSS, stretched in ImagesPlus and finally processed in Corel Paintshop ProX6 and X5. Will add more data this winter.
