Description

Here my Interpretation of M42 in narrow band.

Data from Astrobin Public Data from user davidng

The workflow was all in PixInsight 1.8:

1) Since Ha data were saturated in the core of the nebula I composed Ha and SII data with GradientHDRComposition producing a linear HDR image

2) Linear fit of OIII on Ha-SII composite

3) DynamicAlignement of OIII on Ha-SII composite

4) AutoHistogram with Logarithmic transformation on both images

5) Denoise of OIII data with ACDNR

6) Bicolor composition with Steve Cannistra technique adapted to PixInsight using PixelMath

(read my tutorial here www.radice.biz)

7) LRGB composition using Ha-SII composite as lightness

8) BackgroundNeutralization

9) MaskedStretch to enhance faint nebulosity

10) HDRMultiscaleTransform to compress the 64bit color range (with mask)

11) Curves transformation and saturation

12) LocalHistogramEqualization (with mask)

13) SCNR for green reduction

14) Curves final tuning

per gli amici italiani il tutorial sulla composizione di Steve Cannistra è disponibile anche in italiano.
