Hi there. Serious question, not trying to troll anyone.

Is this forum still active? I am asking because the number of topics/posts is very low for a site that has been around for 5 years. Or do people hang out in some sort of secret sub forums? Or did people go when the site decided to take money for webspace? Again, serious question because I have no clue what the reason is, but it's suspiciously quite here.

And who exactly is a moderator? It's not nice  to wait for several hours every time I post a pic or a topic. Actually, I haven't seen this scheme for quite a while in any forum. Feels like I am being punished for something I didn't do.

Thanks,
-Thomas

Hi Thomas,
actually the forum has come about barely before the site went paid, so there's no terms for comparison.

Historically AstroBin has focused on the images, so it's also understandable that there hasn't been enough time to create enough community around the forum. There's already a good number of large, established forums around, that have been going on for 10 years or more, so if you compare the AstroBin forums to those, it's going to look like it's quiet here. There are currently 4735 posts on AstroBin's forum, and usually 10-20 posts per day.

With that little activity, I serve as the only moderator at the moment. I check in every few hours to moderate the forums and the images, except when it's night time over here.

Forum "needs for moderation" of individual posts is determined by their AstroBin Index, which is really related to the images. So I should set up some rules just for the forums (i.e. if you've had already 3 posts approved, you get auto-approved from now on, or something like that).
