Description

As some of you may know, the very faint NGC 6140 is rarely imaged.

There's only a handfull of these images on Astrobin. Colin McGill's 29.0 hour exposure is very well done on an 8" RC...

Mark Hanson's image using similar equipment was my main reference for this project...

The image shown here was captured during four particulary steady and dark nights averaging around 21.6 SQM. The last night saw 1.5" FWHM on 15 minute subs.

From astroeyes...

"A pretty faint and difficult galaxy, particularly the spiral arms. NGC 6140 in Draco is magnitude 12.6 with an average surface brightness of 16.5 magnitude per square arcminute, that's faint. Redshift distance is an estimated 42 MLy."
