Description

The North America Nebula and surrounding area is a huge emission nebula in constellation Cygnus. It is estimated to be around 3000 light years from earth. You can readily see how the nebula got its name. You can also see the Pelican Nebula (IC-5070) on the right side of the image. The Cygnus Wall is a dense area of star formation - it appears in the "Mexico" and "Central America" region of the image.
