Description

Star Party 27-29 Sept., 2019

Astronomical Observatory of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta (OAVdA)
Lignan Planetarium

While I was checking the Star Party folder and subfolders I did for each DSO framed those two nights for to do this little path of our beginning in astrophotography, I realized that the Orion Nebula folder, even having the most frames of all the other DSOs, strangely was never processed.

So I decided to check those frames and found the ones toked with filters no one could use (14) but without filter (39), fourteen was good enough to give a try. Inspecting those frames I remember that we on purpose took frames with different time exposure to be able to get the bright core under 'control'. The intention was good, the bad thing is we only took one of each time exposure progression, haha.

I select the fourth darker to get some information of the core, while the other ten for the general nebula data.

I have to use a 'creative' flat, but I have the darks and bias needed for this. I stack the chosen frames core first and then the others and blend after in Ps.  I did a quick process but I am sure that if I had done it two years ago the result would not be the one I obtained today.

I have to say I'm pleased despite the little data available. Mauri did a session last year of this nebula but again the wind played a bad joke and all the frames suffer from movement, it's a shame because it was in a Bortle 2 zone. We hope to get back on this Iconic nebula again during this December or next year's first months.

With this nebula image ended the journey of this memorable Star Party and begin a path that we hope be with us for long time.
