This is part of my low payload, low tech imaging series with the Star Adventurer + WO Redcat 51 + DSLR with intervalometer. While I've given M31 serious high res multi panel attention
seen here, I never tire of images of M31 or views through a scope.
This was imaged in early Aug from Pinnacles National Park while my regular rig was capturing nebulae in the southern skies. For 2 min exposures and no tracking, I'm pleased with the result. I had to throw out ~22% of subs because of poor tracking leading to trailing stars, but I take that as the cost of using this low tech AA battery operated portable mount.
It's always fascinating to see how far Andromeda extends and this wide-field just about manages to capture the whole galaxy. I've used Adam Block's star de-emphasis technique to reduce the stars in the field which otherwise dominate the view.
