Description

Another one from July 12th, 2020. This one highlights the "Straight Wall" toward the south and east side in Mare Nubium. The main crater Arzachel is up top and measures some 96 km in diameter, with Thebit and Purbach to the south. To the left, as I said, is the Straight Wall. It is actually an elevation, or escarpment, in the lunar surface. It is well known and a popular target for amateur astronomers. The shadow cast gives it the appearance of a steep cliff. The fault has a length of 110 km, a typical width of 2–3 km, and a height of 240–300 m. While it may appear to be a vertical cliff, it is believed the grade of the slope is relatively shallow. Shot was taken July 12th with a CGE 11 using a QHY5III178M. Best 20% of 4000 frames were taken using FireCapture and stacked in Autostakkert 3, with processing in PS-CC.
