Description

NGC 206 is a giant open star cluster in the Great Andromedanebula (M 31). Hence, this is an example of a well resolved object in a distant galaxy some 2.3 million lightyears from Earth. Also note the blueish object near a bright foreground star in the lower left quarter. This is Andromeda IV, an irregular dwarf galaxy in a distance of some 20 million lightyears, thus not physically associated to M 31. Also, a number of globular clusters of M 31 can be identified in the image.
